Dr. Peter Kass, M.D., M.Ed., is an accomplished psychiatrist specializing in Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatry. Employing an integrative approaching encompassing talk therapy, evidence based medication management, and lifestyle modifications, Dr. Kass believes in collaborative care and aims to partner with his patients to develop tailored treatment plans that help patients achieve their aspirations and meet their mental health goals. In addition to his integrative and holistic work with  children, adolescent, and adult clients, Dr. Kass offers additional expertise in performance psychiatry, offering high performing adolescent and adult athletes and professionals across all levels individualized support to facilitate peak mental performance. With a keen understanding of the complexities of the human mind and a compassionate approach, Dr. Kass is dedicated to providing personalized care that fosters healing and growth in individuals and families.

​Dr. Kass attended Pomona College, where he excelled both academically and athletically, playing varsity basketball while majoring in neuroscience. Following his undergraduate studies, he joined Teach For America, where he immersed himself in teaching high school science and coaching varsity basketball in downtown Los Angeles. Concurrently, he pursued a Master of Urban Education at Loyola Marymount University. Driven by a passion for mental health and education, Dr. Kass transitioned to medical school at UC-San Diego School of Medicine, graduating to pursue his Adult Psychiatry Residency at UC-San Francisco. His dedication to comprehensive care led him to further specialize in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry through a fellowship at the University of California, San Diego, and Rady Children's Hospital. Deepening his expertise, Dr. Kass completed a rigorous two-year psychodynamic psychotherapy training program at the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis.​

  • Direct Communication: Dr. Kass understands that questions and concerns come up outside of appointment times. All patients get direct access to Dr. Kass email and voicemail so that they can get their questions and concerns addressed efficiently between appointments.

  • Hybrid Therapy and Medication Treatment: Dr. Kass has extensive training and expertise in both medication management and talk therapy. Drawing on multiple therapeutic modalities, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and emotionally focused therapy, Dr. Kass offers patients the ability to get both therapeutic and medication support at each visit. 

  • Whole Family Care: Dr. Kass knows that caring for child and teenage patients includes taking care of the whole family. As part of his work with kids, Dr. Kass includes family and parent coaching sessions to provide parents with tools to support their children and help parents through the joys and challenges of parenting.
